Members Promote the RBLR at the Wirral Easter Egg Run

On a crisp Sunday morning, 22nd March 2026, members of the Royal British Legion Riders Branch from North Wales and Cheshire turned out at the Wirral Easter Egg Run to promote the RBLR and raise awareness of the branch among the wider biking community.

From early in the day, branch members were busy at both ends of the event. While some were at The Dips in New Brighton, where thousands of riders gathered before setting off, others were already setting up at Claremont Farm in Bebington, ready to welcome participants as they arrived. Having members positioned at both points gave the branch a strong presence throughout the event and provided a great opportunity to meet fellow bikers and talk about the RBLR.

The Wirral Easter Egg Run is clearly far more than just a small local ride. Reports suggested there were well in excess of 4,000 bikes in New Brighton, with some estimates putting the number as high as 6,000. Most riders completed the route as far as Clatterbridge before dispersing, with many continuing on to Claremont Farm, The Tap in Eastham, The Swinging Arm in Birkenhead, or simply making their own way home. The event also attracted riders from across the UK and even as far afield as Poland, underlining the scale and appeal of the day.

The run was held in aid of Air Ambulance, Northwest Blood Bikes, and Claire House Children’s Hospice, while also collecting donated Easter gifts.

Representing the branch on the day were Gareth Moses, Mike Holloway, Daz Ellie, Alan Boyle, Phil Hignett, Barbara Hignett, Tony Teff Green, Debbie Green, Neil Bainbridge, Lee Wilkinson, Phil Jones, Sarah Jones and Martin Moyse.

For the RBLR members attending, the day was all about visibility and branch promotion rather than taking part in the run itself. Whether at the start or along the route, our members did the branch proud, helping fly the flag for the Royal British Legion Riders Branch and introducing the branch to a huge and varied biking audience.

Well done to everyone who gave up their time to represent the branch so well.
