Sun, Steel, and Nostalgia: Heage Windmill

On Sunday, April 26, 2026, a group of Notts riders braved the warm, sunny weather for a scenic “bimble” to the historic Heage Windmill. The destination? The annual Classic and American Car Show, a great event framed by the windmill’s iconic six sails.

The day was a masterclass in nostalgia. While the American muscle cars drew plenty of eyes, the Notts riders found themselves drawn to the everyday icons of British motoring history. The show field was packed with the very machines that many grew up with, including:

  • Ford Granadas: The heavy-weight kings of the 70s and 80s.
  • Ford Cortinas: A true blast from the past for any vintage enthusiast.
  • Ford Escorts: Bringing back memories of Sunday drives and classic rallies.

The warmth didn’t deter the group, as the clear skies made for a perfect run out to Derbyshire. Between admiring the chrome and chatting with fellow enthusiasts, the riders enjoyed the unique atmosphere of the windmill grounds, making the most of the peak spring sunshine.

With the 2026 season now in full gear, the trip to Heage was a perfect reminder that sometimes the best journeys are the ones that take you back in time.
