On Saturday, 16th May 2026, the clear blue skies echoed to the unmistakable thunder of engines as the Royal British Legion Riders Branch came together for our annual Memorial Run. It was a deeply moving and poignant day, dedicated entirely to honouring, remembering, and celebrating the lives of our fallen branch members who are no longer riding with us.

For any motorcycle branch, the bonds forged on the open road run incredibly deep. We are more than just an organisation; we are a family brought together by a shared passion for riding and an unwavering commitment to the values of remembrance. When a member leaves our ranks for the final time, they leave behind an irreplaceable gap in our line-up and a lasting imprint on our hearts. Saturday’s run was our way of ensuring that their laughter, their camaraderie, and their dedication are never forgotten.

The turnout was a powerful testament to the spirit of our branch. Row upon row of polished machines stood side by side, flags catching the wind, as riders from near and far gathered to pay their respects. Before setting off, a quiet solemnity filled the air as we paused to reflect on the names of those we have lost. It was a moment of profound gratitude for the miles shared and the memories made.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”
