Wales Region

To make organisation and management of the Branch easier, we organise ourselves into Regions, and within these are Counties. Each Region has its own Regional Representative and within the regions each county has a county Representative. The county’s within the Wales region are:

  1. North Wales
  2. South East Wales
  3. South West Wales

Motorcycling in Wales is often described as some of the best riding in the UK — and for good reason. The combination of breathtaking scenery, winding roads, and a strong biker community makes it a dream destination for riders.

Wales is a land of contrasts — from rugged coastlines to rolling hills and wild mountain passes. It offers the kind of varied terrain that makes every ride unique.

  • Snowdonia National Park (Eryri): Stunning mountain roads like the A4086 through Llanberis Pass or the A470 through Dolgellau and Betws-y-Coed.
  • Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog): Sweeping bends, long views, and great café stops — the A4069 “Black Mountain Pass” is legendary among bikers.
  • Pembrokeshire Coast: Coastal roads with sea views, cliffs, and charming villages like St Davids and Tenby.
  • Mid Wales: Quieter roads, remote landscapes, and some of the best pure riding in Britain — routes like the A44 and A483 are favourites.

The RBLR in Wales is very active offering members a variety of fun ride outs, poppy appeal fund raising events, memorial events, and of course social events. One of the major annual events in the region is the Poppy Launch event which is unique to region. The event is held to mark the official launch of The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and is held over the weekend two weeks prior to Remembrance Sunday. The event, in partnership with the Cheshire Region, visit several war memorials in Cheshire on Saturday and several war memorials in North Wales where a short act of remembrance is held. This is a popular event that often attracts riders from other regions to join us.

The RBLR counties across Wales are very active, offering members a fantastic mix of ride outs, fundraising for the Poppy Appeal, memorial rides, and of course plenty of social get-togethers. One of the region’s standout events is the annual Poppy Launch, a tradition unique to Wales. Held in partnership with the Cheshire Region, this special weekend marks the official start of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal — taking place two weeks before Remembrance Sunday.

During the event, riders visit several war memorials in Cheshire on Saturday, and continue through North Wales on Sunday, pausing at each stop for a short act of remembrance. The Poppy Launch has become a much-loved highlight of the RBLR calendar, regularly attracting participants from across the UK who come to share in the spirit of remembrance and camaraderie.
