Northern Ireland Region

To make organisation and management of the Branch easier, we organise ourselves into Regions, and within these are Counties. Each Region has its own Regional Representative and within the regions each county has a county Representative. The county’s within the Northern Ireland region are:
- County Down
- County Antrim
- County Armagh
- County Fermanagh
- County Londonderry
- County Tyrone
- (Covers Eire as well)
Northern Ireland is a biker’s paradise, bursting with scenic routes, legendary events, and unforgettable experiences. Whether you’re chasing coastal views, countryside charm, or the thrill of road racing, this region has it all. Northern Ireland’s racing calendar is packed with adrenaline. From the Cookstown 100 to the Northwest 200, Tandragee 100, Ulster Grand Prix, and Armoy Road Races, the region is a mecca for road racing fans. And if that’s not enough, there are plenty of events just across the border too.
- Antrim Coast Road (Carrickfergus to Cushendall): Widely hailed as one of the most breathtaking coastal roads in the world, the Antrim Coast Road is pure magic. Featured in Sons of Anarchy, this 30mile stretch from Larne to Cushendall feels like riding on the edge of the world. Along the way, stop at the haunted Ballygally Castle Hotel, meet the quirky Cushendun Goat, or soak up the charm of Carnlough. Don’t miss the weekly summer bike meet at Carrickfergus Castle.
- Causeway Coastal Route: Home to the worldfamous Giant’s Causeway, this 50mile ride is packed with highlights. Cruise through Portrush, chill at Castlerock, and finish in the historic city of Londonderry. With plenty of seaside stops (and ice cream along the way), this is a ride that blends adventure with relaxation.
- Kilrea to Coleraine: Looking for a countryside escape? This 15mile ride from Kilrea to Coleraine delivers rolling fields, farm life, and the occasional tractor or cow. Short but sweet, it can easily be extended by continuing along the North Coast.
- Strangford Lough (Newtownards – Strangford): This 18mile gem takes you from Newtownards down the Portaferry Road, hugging the sparkling waters of Strangford Lough. Pass Mount Stewart, wander through Greyabbey, and finish in Strangford, where a ferry ride awaits. Newcastle is a legendary Sunday stop for bikers—perfect for a midride break.
- Spelga Dam: Hidden away in the Mourne Mountains, Spelga Dam offers solitude, sweeping hills, and crisp mountain air. With few pit stops but jaw-dropping views, this route is a rider’s secret treasure.
Here’s what the Northern Ireland Regional Representative Tracy Beare has to say about the region:
The RBLR community in Northern Ireland is vibrant and active, blending passion for bikes with dedication to remembrance and support of the Poppy Appeal launches and stalls across the region including our annual Guard of Honour at Groomsport Remembrance.
One of the Annual highlights is the Annual Meet & Greet Weekend in August, which brings members together from across the region. Alongside this flagship event, the Northern Ireland RBLR year members are highly visible within the community, providing bike displays, manning stalls, and leading rides in support of local Royal British Legion branches, including valued support for branches such as Randalstown. These events not only raised funds but also strengthened ties with local communities.
Memorial riding remains central to the Northern Ireland RBLR activities. Respects are paid at a number of important sites, including Massereene, Whitebrae, and Lisburn during the Falklands Ride of Respect. Members also travelled further afield for Somme remembrance in Dublin, as well as memorial events in Limavady and Carrickfergus. Each ride serves as a powerful reminder of why the branch rides and who it represents.
The social side of RBLR life remains just as strong with regular Veteran breakfasts combined with ride-outs to places such as HMS Caroline, the Ulster Aviation Society, Portavogie Veterans’ Centre, and the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum and further afield, with members travelling across the water to represent Northern Ireland at the Royal British Legion Riders Branch National Rally and AGM, as well as taking part in the annual ride to the National Arboretum.
Northern Ireland isn’t just a place to ride—it’s a place to belong. With epic roads, legendary races, and a strong biker community, every journey here is unforgettable.
