DESCRIPTION:\nThe Anniversary of:-\n\n\n\nRoyal British Legion RIDERS Branch Inaugural Meeting At Cheltenham Branch, St. Anne’s Road Cheltenham, Glos. on 27th November 2004\n\n\n.kb-image642_368a7e-df .kb-image-has-overlay:after{opacity:0.3;}\n\n\n\n\nIn July 2004 a meeting took place at The Royal British Legion Village to discuss the possibility of an ex-services motorcycle club becoming an official branch of the RBL.\n\n\n\nCircumstances took over and this idea was discarded but not forgotten. In late August, Paul Pollard and Graham Barber decided to resurrect the idea and approached some of those who were at the first meeting. The Legion was contacted again with a clear way ahead and an informal meeting was set up in November at RBL Cheltenham where the 14 original members met to discuss how to proceed and to form a committee, 12 volunteered for the first Riders Committee. It was at this meeting that we formally decided on our name and an adapted set of Branch Byelaws. At the end of this informal meeting, the official inaugural meeting took place and ‘The Riders’ were officially formed.\n

DESCRIPTION:Paul Lucas (New Lincolnshire Rep) is organising a visit and Brunch For Riders at The Last Post Memorial and Museum AKA The Don Bar, Cranworth Street, Thornaby, Stockton on Tees TS17 7DR from 1130 hrs on Saturday 11th July 2026.\nThis will be a good chance to meet up with riders from other areas as well as have a look around the museum and soak up the atmosphere of the Don Bar which if you’ve not been before is quite unique, all with some scoff thrown in.\nAfter lunch there will be a ride over to Seaham for a group photograph at “Tommy” followed by an evening of festivities back at the Don bar for those who are interested.\nAs this event no longer clashes with Sullyfest camping weekend in Yorkshire I shall be leading a run down the A19 with a stop at Wolverton / Wynyard Services en-route in case people from the south of the region would find it easier to join us there, departing her at 1045hrs.\n \nRiders from all areas are most welcome to make thier own way to this event and if you’ve never seen the Don Bar I suggest you google it along with Tommy. \n

DESCRIPTION:We have been invited to have stand at this years Haltwhistle Carnival on Saturday 11th July. While this is a week long carnival the main parade and show take place on the Saturday staring at 1100hrs. We have been invited to take part in the parade if we wish but I am advised the pace of this is very slow (slow walking) so would be feet down all the way unless your on a trike. The main focus though will be on helping John Dickinson in setting up and running a stall, all the usual things promote the legion in general and the Riders Branch in particular, have a display of bikes, raise some funds for the Poppy appeal etc. Unfortunately I am not available that weekend but am hoping a number of people will put their hands up and assist. \n
