DESCRIPTION:\nThe Anniversary of:-\n\n\n\nRoyal British Legion RIDERS Branch Inaugural Meeting At Cheltenham Branch, St. Anne’s Road Cheltenham, Glos. on 27th November 2004\n\n\n.kb-image642_368a7e-df .kb-image-has-overlay:after{opacity:0.3;}\n\n\n\n\nIn July 2004 a meeting took place at The Royal British Legion Village to discuss the possibility of an ex-services motorcycle club becoming an official branch of the RBL.\n\n\n\nCircumstances took over and this idea was discarded but not forgotten. In late August, Paul Pollard and Graham Barber decided to resurrect the idea and approached some of those who were at the first meeting. The Legion was contacted again with a clear way ahead and an informal meeting was set up in November at RBL Cheltenham where the 14 original members met to discuss how to proceed and to form a committee, 12 volunteered for the first Riders Committee. It was at this meeting that we formally decided on our name and an adapted set of Branch Byelaws. At the end of this informal meeting, the official inaugural meeting took place and ‘The Riders’ were officially formed.\n

DESCRIPTION:The annual Royal Air Force Association ANZAC service to remember the men of New Zealand and Australia who lost their lives fighting in the RAF during WW2 and who are buried in Chevington Northumberland will take place on Saturday 25th April. The service will start at 1400hrs. I have requested the Riders Branch lay a wreath at this event and knowing what a fan I am of ceremonial I am looking for a volunteer to lay the wreath (priority will be given to an RAF veteran if any would like to do so)\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs this is the same day as I propose we lay the crosses on the graves of the Luftwaffe crews buried in Sunderland at 1100hrs (See separate event for details) I would hope a few Riders will be able to make more of a day of it and join me at both events (with a lunch stop on route from Sunderland to Chevington at Cramlington services with a RV and departure from here at 1300hrs for people just wishing to attend the Chevington service)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
